Title: South of Boston 6 meter Am net on 50.4 Mcs
Post by: W1QWT on January 29, 2012, 06:33:56 PM
Every Sunday at 5 PM Hams south of Boston meet on 50.4 Mcs AM for a chat.
Ofcourse next weekend we will all be watching the super bowl but after that we will be back.
Tonight we had our usual group in a 35 miles radius but one station who tried the first time
really made his mark. Now, AA1V is only a few miles away but look at his signal at my station!
Other stations in the same town don't make the needle rest against the right side of the plastic case like this station did.

50.4 has some good memories. When I was first licensed in '66 there was a 6 meter AM net on 50.4 in Central California. I was living in the foothills of the Sierras overlooking the San Joaquin Valley. A neighbor who was a formerly a steeplejack on the East Coast volunteered to take my 5 element beam and rotator up a 150' pine tree. With the beam up the tree and a Heath Sixer I covered the valley from Stockton to Fresno. Great times for a 16 year old kid and his radio.
