Title: New TX by IN3IEX
Post by: IN3IEX on December 30, 2011, 04:20:49 PM
Here we have a homebrew TX just finished:

Geloso VFO 4/102 and dial scale
Geloso modulation transformer 6055
Geloso PI coil
Geloso 1500pF Load variable capacitor
VFO adopts 6J5, 6AH6, 6L6.
QB3/200 Rf power tube 1.2kV anode voltage, 130 mA typical anode current.
Tubes in the modulator are 12ax7, 5687WA, 2 * 6KM6 audio power tubes 600 V anode voltage.
There are semiconductor diodes in the power supply and a voltage regulator IC for the relais, the fan and the panel lamp.
There is my anti overmodulation circuit. (see here http://www.ing.unitn.it/~fontana/AM%20ALC.pdf and look for updates).
Four meters: Ig, Ia, RF, %mod.
Relatively compact design
100 W carrier out
Six fuses (most important...)

Nice transmitter. Very well thought out, laid out, and constructed. From those photos, it could pretty easily pass for a piece of commercial equipment.

That is a true work of art following the Geloso tradition.  Thanks for sharing - and yes, how about some pictures of the inside?

More pictures attached.

Dedicated to John Geloso, he produced the components but never made a 100W out AM transmitter.
Many thanks to Luciano I8KLL for inspiring this work and for his advice.
Many thanks to Tony I0JX for Geloso documentation, dial scales and many useful discussions.
