Title: (SOLD) DX-60A Nearly Restored $125 firm BEAUTIFUL Post by: W9ZSL on December 11, 2011, 10:37:16 PM I've restored this as much as I'm going to. I've powered it up to reform the caps. I threw it into a 75 watt bulb and judging by the light I got at least 60 watts out with a 3885 rock. Problem is the grid drive went too high. I didn't know how to tune. I roasted the RF choke in the driver grid. I replaced all 3 componants in the circuit including the bypass and 18K resistor. The chassis has some pitting but I polished. It doesn't look bad at all. The cabinet is a 9 out of 10. The neutralizing stub will have to be adjusted I'm sure. That might be why I could not nail down the grid drive. I have a 60B along with the VFO and RCVR so this is surplus. I also am building a 300 watt AM rig and a CW amp so I don't want to mess with this. By the way, I've replaced the chassis/cage screws with new hardware. She really shines! I paid $130 for it on EBag several years ago. I did modify it with an IEC power socket. I have many photos. Just contact me at W9ZSL@yahoo.com and away we go. Shipping will be about $35.00 depending on our strapped PO. AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
If you're interested I can throw in a VF-1 free. I didn't test it and don't want to modify this rig to use it so out it goes. 73! Mike W9ZSL in Wisconsin. GO PACKERS! ;D |
