I have my RCI-5054, LMR-400, 1/2 wave loop at 40' on 24/7 for the last 2 months and I've yet to hear anything on 50.4. Good reports over 6 mile tests else I'd think its was broken. Generally, no. I've made few AM contacts in the last 10+ years i've experienced "The Heartbreak of Six." It would be nice if more activity was forthcomming. klc Title: Re: Hear Ya Go - 6 Has Opened Post by: Pete, WA2CWA on November 26, 2011, 08:16:43 PM Most of the "good" AM contacts are generally made during summer (roughly May to late August) Sporadic E openings. I probably made about 2 dozen AM contacts this past summer somewhere between 50.35 and 50.45 MHz. However, as we get higher into the sunspot cycle, there will be more predominant F2 type openings, from roughly September to December, where both domestic and international AM contacts can be made on 6 meters. The problem is to get all the activity to roll up the band and press the AM button. Another way might be to call a SSB station on AM, and see if you get a response, and then identify yourself as being on AM.
