Title: EU This Morning
Post by: Steve - K4HX on November 06, 2011, 10:52:02 AM
The band is not as hot as last weekend but still some EU stations coming through. Just spoke with I0JX - Tony in Rome. Also hearing G0NKZ around 29030.

Yeah gotta recalibrate my head as to the time change and propagation.

10:30AM  EST Sunday

Just worked westbound to Colorado and N1FSX/0, Chris at 20+, 29.040Mc but this seems a little early for the shift to the left.

The sunspot number is 123 today, up from 88 yesterday. Conditions should be better.

Wow! How cool is that? An AM pileup. Can you make a recording. It has to be a hoot.

A lot of the guys I hear calling him are on FM! I don't know whether he realizes, or even cares. Whatever rocks your boat, I suppose!

I was only taking a restroom break from my "nightly" sleep.  I worked a few stations for about a half hour when I heard him there on AM.  I called several times before he picked me up.  Sorry Steve, I didnt' think to make the recording.

What antenna types are you guys using? My dipole does not seem to do very well on 10M.

I use a vertical ground plane above my roof.

Trimmed down IMAX 2000 11m vert with ground radials kit here, up at about 70ft at the base. It's the only survivor after the storm last weekend. I have it lashed up to my daily driver johnson 500 and amelco r390a. Never skips a beat.
