Title: 3705 Sat Nite
Post by: WA3VJB on November 05, 2011, 11:54:55 PM
Wow, nice conditions for about 6 hours Saturday night in the 160M part of the 80M phone band.

Take a listen.

Note:  Only the left channel will play back.  Have to figure out the software Audacity "mono" setting.

Conditions were excellent from 6:30 PM on.

I hear some buzzies in there. Did you get some new neighbors?

Sorry for bailing mid-QSO, but had to spend a little quality time with the good wife who had open house at her school all day, then had to attend a play put on by the students.

Did finally get back out there around 12:45. Nothing heard then but some static crashes. Did get to test the audio chain s'more, it appears to be working okayfine again. It's looking more like a flaky connection in one of the cables or the pre itself.

Looking forward to more nights like this (nice conditions and everything working properly). Even with only 20 watts or so from his FT-101EE, Tim was coming into NC with a 20-30 over signal.

I was listening a good part of the evening while working on a rig on the bench. Everyone had great signals.

Heard the bunch last night.  Tried to get in to the mix, but guess the Viking II was not competing with the noise well.  Had to work today, so called it a day.

Did hear the buzzy sounding signal [which sounds at times like a weak point jammer transmitter, circia cold war] a few kc's up but it wasn't bothering me.

Sorry we didn't hear you. I remember someone trying to break in but was right at the noise floor.

I did not hear any buzz on my RX. I figured it was local to VJB.

Ya. Real local. Plasma TV in the house.
Bought it before I knew how much noise they generate, ugh.

Eventually it's headed for the guest bedroom.
