Title: E.F. Johnson Service Bulletins?
Post by: WD8KDG on November 05, 2011, 03:46:10 PM
Guessing this is the correct forum to post the questions. So how many service bulletins were sent to the original owners of Johnson KW's? I've searched the net and have found, "zip-nada-nothing". Next trip to the local library where there is a Wi-Fi connection, I should upload my stuff to BAMA.

With that; I have bulletins dated July 15,1955.....September 19, 1955..........May 7, 1956.... and February 21, 1958. Are there more?

Question #2: How about the Johnson Viking 500?

Thanks,
Craig

There were a number of them that covered a number of models. Some were sent to registered customers, some were sent to dealers, some were attached to manuals as bulletins or as errata  sheet(s). Some were only sent to customers with specific problems.

I don't believe Art, Leo, Edgar, Bill or any of the others built a perfect TX or RX. Just thought I'd try here, where all the AM experts hang out. ;D

Wuda thunk that one or two Desks might of pass thru ur hands.

Craig,

And some changes or corrections were done right during the manufacturing process with no followup bulletin or schematic/manual update. It's not uncommon to find a boatanchor receiver or transmitter rig in today's world where no schematic found actually mirrors the actual product 100%.

Craig,

The  Instruction Manual for my Kilowatt contains Service Bulletin #3 dated 9/15/55 for serial numbers 100001 to 100300.  In it, it refers to two earlier bulletins dated 4/11/55 and 7/15/55 that are replaced by SB#3.  I assume that one of them that you are missing is Service Bulletin #1 dated 4/11/55.  This manual also has a copy of the packing list dated 4/55.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the info!! Mine is serial #100124 purchased new in Sept. 1955. That explains why the first owner didn't have Service Bulletin #1. I didn't get a packing list or any of that stuff. But the tag on how to care for the Linoleum on the desk was included with the rest of the nuts & bolts. For the trivia people; The desk was made by Corry-Jamestown Mfg. Corp., located in Corry Pa.
