Title: Splatter from 11 meter FREEBAND
Post by: KX5JT on October 25, 2011, 05:09:00 PM
I kept hearing some splatter up around 29.000 through 29.100... at first I thought I was at the edge of some signal coming down but I followed it all the way down to some Spanish speakers way down on 27.770 sideband... MY LORD what a horrible signal!

Any idea whether they were ground plane and real local to you?

We've got some taxicabs, with drivers speaking languages other than English, in both Baltimore and Washington running considerable power and I figured it out when they'd say street names.

This was when there wasn't any Dog X-Ray either, so I can only imagine the geography they're messing up with propagation.

I think there's a group that maintains an "Intruder Watch" function of some kind to document and report to the FCC, but I don't know whether they chase folks when they're not primarily operating on Amateur Service spectrum.
