Title: Where is the JOHNSON net's Post by: Knightt150 on October 18, 2011, 03:15:51 PM Hello to every one, I have heard the DX 60 the Collins, the Mighty Elmac the Drake and the Drake tech net's the Swan. With a gillion JOHNSON transmitters the RANGER the Valiant the Desk Kilowatt, and eth. WHERE IS THE JOHNSON NET, or have I just missed it. I do not plan to start one because I can't be there all the time but if anyone would let me know. 40m 20M or 75 would be a good place to start.

I've never really understood the manufacturer brand nets--it makes more sense to me to have specific model nets--Ranger net, BC-610 net, T368 net and so on if there is going to be serious attempts at on-air help. This only works if there are enough units out there in operation. The Temco RA150 net would be a pretty small net. Yet another "net" would serve to increase this congestion. If you're not an "owner" or don't want to wait around for a LONG time to make a transmission on a directed net, then it's time to watch another repeat of NCIS or another TV show

Right now I can do 40 through 10 meter... 40 in the afternoon probably our best bet... sooner or later my 75 m vee will be up too. Even on Saturdays & Sundays you would be hard pressed to find anyone on from about 11 AM to 6 PM. 40 meters has better participation from about 8 AM till about 4:30 PM so a net there might be more successful IMHO. The bands are becoming a waste land. No one to talk to?? I call CQ when at the camp on 75 meters, nobody home! Must be my breath! On 40 meters someone seems to be there all the time. However the other night several operators on 3885 had a pseudo Johnson Net. Me and my Viking II, a 9 lander with a Viking II CDC, a fellow in WVA with a Valiant and another fellow with a rice box, but was putting the finishing touches on his Valiant II, making it ready to use on "real" AM.
