Title: Flex 3000 question Post by: WA4JK on September 07, 2011, 07:28:18 AM My question is can you connect the mic input to the computer and avoid using the modular mic connector on the 3000. I do not want to pay more money to aquire the mic connector to 8 pin adapter cable. I hate the modular mic plug cause I cant just solder cables to do what I want to a modular plug..
Title: Re: Flex 3000 question Post by: N3WWL on September 07, 2011, 08:42:15 AM There is a "D" connector on the rear labeled "Flexwire". This connector has provisions for line level mic input. You will need an outboard preamp should you decide to go this route. It will require soldering a mic cable to a standard 9 pin "D" connector (like the serial port connector on most older computers - be advised that pin 3 has been blocked). The PowerSDR software will allow you to choose the use of this connector through the PowerSDR mixer control. Check the Flex web site to download a user manual to familiarize yourself with the connections. I've been using mine this way for years.
