Title: Valiant clipper bypass produces distorted lows Post by: radionut on July 30, 2011, 09:05:21 AM I have bypassed the clipper circuit on my valiant but am not getting distorted or over driven lows. Any thoughts? Here is how I did the bypass:
Removed the 6AL5 (V13) tube but left tube socket. Remove C83. Use a .1 uF and run it from Pin 6 of V12b to Pin 6 of V14 used a small shielded coax cable here. Also on Pin 6 of V14: Snip or desoldered L45 lead and C94 from Pin 6 of V14. On the first test the low was distorted so I changed the .1 uF out for a .05 uF it did not seem to help much. Any thoughts are appreciated! Title: Re: Valiant clipper bypass produces distorted lows Post by: Ed/KB1HYS on July 30, 2011, 02:10:57 PM Odd, I did that bypass more or less the same way. I forget the exact component values I used but they sound "close enough". AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
Of course, my audio is nothing to brag about :o |
