Title: Need info of school in NYC Post by: w1vtp on April 28, 2011, 02:49:34 PM Here's an email I just got from an old friend Chuck, KA1BJ. Do any of you guys know what school my friend is talking about?
"Hi Al, Thirty years ago my brother-in-law became a ham, extra class, and bought an Icom 765 transceiver. he spent lots of time listening but never made one transmission. So now, after all these years, has decided that he want to get rid of the Icom. He'd like to give it away to someone or some organization that would use it. I thought of that school in New York city that was always looking for donations of equipment but I don't know their name or address. If they are still around could you find them somewhere and let me know how to contact them? By this time, every school in NYC ought to have had a ham station, or else the ham shack in whatever school he is/was in would have filled the place. However, I have no first hand information on this... so he may be completely legit. What radios they get go right to fleabay and elsewhere for top dollar.

There are so many schools in NYC and many of them have/had radio clubs at one time or another. I'm thinking it could be Bronx High School of Science or Stuyvesant, both are technically oriented schools but then again could be another one.
