Each time I do log in I select the time period of "forever". The log in always seems to work, but it certainly does not last forever. To answer your question, make sure you have cookies enabled, and that you don't have your browser set to delete cookies when you close it. Any time you delete the cookie for this site, it'll make you log in again.
