(again) Wish that YouTube slide show had some video in it. Then again, I've got some sitting around I never did anything with, hmm... Title: Re: Dayton 2011 Post by: k4kyv on March 20, 2011, 12:57:13 PM Someone young and ambitious needs to re-organise an AM forum for future years. Dale did it for many years and I think he finally got burnt out. I used to help him with it until I had to miss 3 or 4 years in a row due to conflicts with work and one year with my daughter's graduation, and I think Dale also missed a year due to a graduation. The first year there was no AM forum (two years ago) was due to the hamfest committee's alleged screw-up... or else, someone in charge didn't want an AM forum and fabricated an excuse.
Title: Re: Dayton 2011 Post by: Pete, WA2CWA on March 20, 2011, 03:19:51 PM At one point, there were so many forums, some of them had to held off-site. Today, there's only 4 forum rooms used at Hamvention (Room 1/4, 2, 3, and 5). I didn't check to see if all the rooms and time slots were already filled. Contesters and DXers already have most of their forum-type presentations done downtown at the Crowne Plaza. They start on Wednesday before Hamvention. AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
Some enterprising ham(s) could coordinate a Friday or Saturday afternoon AM meet at some unused flea market spaces (maybe beyond the Gate D aisle), for an hour or so, for some AM bonding, group pictures, huddling, tall tales, etc. Might require the use of a megaphone or bull horn to keep the group gathered together. If presentations, they don't have to be elaborate; maybe something as simple as "look what I found at Hamvention this year" type of stuff. |
