Title: Frank KB3AHE "Da Slab Bacon" and his whereabouts:
Post by: Vortex Joe - N3IBX on February 18, 2011, 06:04:41 PM
Hello All,
I was talking to Frank, KB3AHE "Da Slab Bacon" tonight from the hospital where he has been since Tuesday. Unfortunately, he has been having complications again with his chronic problem.

The good news is he told me to tell everyone that he should be back home tomorrow. Frank sounded real good on the telephonium, and he is in good spirits.

Please say a prayer for both Frank and Carol that he will be home tomorrow and in better health!

Joe Cro N3IBX

Any word on The Slab Bacon ? I don't want to be a pest (any more than usual) but I heard he is a Hallicrafters expert and I'm about to dig into an SX-28

Frank, you OK?

Well Guys, here it is I'M BACK! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

After spending the majority of the month of February in the Horsepistol, I am finally home for the duration. Got home right around 5:30 this afternoon, and boy does it feel good! ! ! ! ! ! !  3 nasty G-I bleeds, a filling up of excess fluid, and a nasty dose of Type "A" influenza virus has kicked my ass good. Not to mention kept me in stir for the majority of the month of february. 6 units of blood, 497 bags of IV fluid, lots of good drugs and a handful of cute nurses, I am all patched up and rarin to go again. I plan to take a few more days off to regain my strength before returning back to work. (I'm still feeling pretty much washed out) So a few days of rest and some good food should take care of that.
(Not to mention a real good radio fix!!)

Many many thanks to all of you that have expressed your support
Best 73  and God Bless to all of you!!
See some of you on the WFDN tomorrow!!

Frank that IS good news that you are home. I had no idea the flu could be that evil. Well take it easy on the hot food till your GI is better. I'll bug you about the SX28 later on.

klc- Brass thingie in the SX-28? I am confused but good now. Guess it must have several brass thingies - hope they are not missing.
One of them is the 'core' of the bandswitch knob; at least it is knurled. Which is why I am in need of a bandswitch knob.

heh heh yeah Joe, and as you noted just now on the air, he's a little slower this afternoon.  Wants to give you a head start !

Frank's in there and sounding pretty-much-normal.
Nice to listen to him, especially right now.

Yea Paul, Ralph was being kind to me  :).  He has his moment of kindness!

It was great being part of the crew that was able to welcome Frank home.  In addition, it was great hearing Carol on the air.  You can sure tell she is Frank's wife!  Fun times to remember for sure.  Lets all hope that March is a better month from a health perspective.

Jay, nice to hear you on the wireless OM.  Your rig sounded real nice and I am glad I caught up with you.

Fun stuff....

Joe, W3GMS

For those who missed it, there's nothing like hearing the man himself.

One of the stations in the group tonight sent me a sound file to post.

Thanks for posting the audio clip Paul.  It was sure good to hear the gang on welcoming Frank home.  Thanks go out to the "mystery guest" for doing the audio clip and sending it to you!

Yes Frank, I forgot the other professions Ralph is in ;)
