I don't know about that particular Heil, but a few I have heard sound ok. Title: Re: HEIL CLASSIC MIC [ORIGINAL]/HC 5 ELEMENT Post by: Pete, WA2CWA on January 12, 2011, 10:44:36 PM The mike input on the Ranger is Hi-Z. The stock Classic, I believe, was low impedance (several hundred ohms). However, when the mike was part of their current line, they also offered a Hi-Z version. Best bet is to drop Bob Heil an e-mail and ask him the question directly. Bob has a bunch of vintage rigs he uses on the air and I bet he uses a Heil mike with them.
