Post by: W1RC on December 31, 2010, 10:30:21 AM

Ken passed away peacefully at 6:20AM this morning.  His wife was with him when he died.  May he rest in peace.

Hello Everyone:

First of all I hope you are all having a happy Holiday Season.  On behalf of the NEAR-Fest High Command Happy New Year 2011!

One of our NEAR-Fest team, Ken Rust, KB1PRV, has been hospitalized at the Lahey Clinic in Boston for several months and I'm afraid to report the outlook isn't very good.   Most of you won't know Ken but he had an important job at the hamfest.  He was a commercial building superintendent at NEAR-Fests III,  IV and and V.

Ken's doctors have not been able to alleviate his pain and condition so he is being moved to a hospice very soon.  We all know what that means and those of us who know Kenny and are his friends are devastated.

Ken Rust is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and it really saddens me to think what is probably coming.  He has a lovely wife and two beautiful five year-old twin daughters.

I'd like to ask a favor of all of you.  Please send Ken a QSL card or a short note just to say "hi" and that you are thinking of him.  His address is:

Ken Rust, KB1PRV,
15 Windham Depot Rd
Lot 24
Derry NH 03038

Thanks for thinking of Ken.  If you believe in miracles please pray for Ken because that's what it is going to take to save him.

73,

Mister Mike, W1RC
