Title: European LF BCB Coming in Gud 12/11 0130 Z
Post by: Tom WA3KLR on December 10, 2010, 08:45:50 PM
Tonight I am receiving a number of the high-power European LF broadcast stations.

I hear stations on 153, 162 and 171 kHz as usual, plus 189, 198 and 252 kHz.

(The WWV A and K indices are both zero right now.)

And, the Geminids meteor shower is also upon us for the next several days. The most intense shower of the entire year. Great time to go stand out in bitter cold and look up.

I haven't tried listening this year.  The last couple of winters I have picked them up at times coming in entertainment quality.  Some of them run as much as a couple of megawatts. The French-speaking one in Germany runs that power with a directional array that doesn't miss us by a whole lot. The Caribbean is right in their bore sight.
