Title: McMartin BA-1K in Kentucky
Post by: tnlance on November 24, 2010, 07:34:31 PM
Back in August (I think that was when it was) I talked to a commercial station owner that had a McMartin BA-1K that he said he would sell to me for $350.00.  I was going to bring it home and put it in my office/home studio, but my wife was against it due to we have no 220 outlet in that room of the house, plus she was afraid I would start playing with it, then I would turn over the 1,000 pound box on top of me, with nobody at home. I have RSD, I can't lift it, and I'm now legally disable.  The transmitter is near Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Also, somebody told me that 4-400 tubes are going to get harder to buy anyway, as the need for them has decreased.  One of you guys should buy it.

I have not seen the transmitter, but the owner of the station uses the same AM transmitter I use, the BE AM-1A.  90 Pounds is much less than 1000 pounds!  If anybody wants it, I have the owner's phone number.  I can see if it is still available.
