Title: SDR learnin Post by: David, K3TUE on July 13, 2010, 10:56:54 PM I have been churnin through a number of old posts here about different SDR options. The last best opinion I got from Frank/GFZ was that the QS1R from Phil Covington looks like the best available to date. It had looked like Phil had trailed off in his effort with the QS1R, but I see a recent update to his blog about availability, so I guess this is encouraging. But I suppose I should start with a SoftRock SDR like everyone else seems to have done.
I read somewhere in this searching someone made mention of a good article that Steve/HUZ posted about SDR, which I can't seem to find. Does anyone know the URL of this article? Softrock on an IF is a great place to start cheap and learn how to use the software. Hold off a while longer on spending money. HPSDR Hermes is almost done. The PC board is in redesign to eliminate some ground loops that caused a few RX spurs. This is the same performance as the QSR1 but it is a transceiver that makes 1/2 watt.
