Title: Xtals.. School me please
Post by: ke7trp on March 14, 2010, 03:14:53 PM
I went to order some Xtals for some transmitters and receivers.  The man emailed me back asking for all kinds of information I just cant seem to find in these manuals.

I would like Xtals for 75 and 40 meters for the Globe gear, 500 and Champion 300.  It is not specified in the manual as to what holder and type of Xtal. It does not tell what Capacitance load.  Any ideas?  FT243?

Does the Johnson gear use the same Xtal and holder?  If not, What type is this?

On the Sp600, It has 6 Xtal slots and can vary the xtal 3kc each way.  Any ideas what type of Xtal this is? There is no holder. Its an extal right in the row.

Finally, Where do you order?

The only thing we cant figure out at this point is what Xtals the Globe stuff takes.  I think its an FT243. The manual does not say anything about it. Both me and the Xtal supplier read the manual.  If anyone knows, Please let us know!

I would be very surprised to find out it's not FT-243

FT-243 fundamentals. Any halfway respectable xtal house should have a list of whats needed. The old standby was 32pf capacitance.

At least one of the SP-600JX manuals had specs for the xtals.  If you can't find it, send your xtal supplier a copy of the oscillator schematic.

We think its the FT243. The Gk400 uses the exact freq on the xtal.  When I get them, I will report back.

The xtal supplier found the SP600 details. I am not sure what they are but he said he had them.

Information update..  Just in case someone finds this post and needs the info:

SP600 Reciever Xtals:

  RECEIVE FREQUENCY - CRYSTAL FREQUENCY

     7293 kHz- 7748 kHz
     3870 kHz- 4325 kHz
     3880 kHz- 4335 kHz
     3885 kHz- 4340kHz

hc6u crystals

540 KHz To 7.4 MHz - add 0.455 MHz to get crystal frequency
   7.4 MHz to 12.05 MHz - add 3.955 MHZ
12.05 MHz to 44.05 MHz - Add 3.955 MHz and divide by 3 (3rd harmonic)
44.05 MHz to 54 MHz - Add 3.955 MHz and divide by 4 (4th harmonic)

Gobe king 500 takes FT 243 Holder with exact Freq. 3880 gets you 3880.
