Title: racoons
Post by: 4cx250 on March 09, 2010, 09:48:04 AM
Hello,

I had a problem with racoons getting, and living in my attic. Tried traps, the whole deal with NO luck, they were still there.

Then, I took a 14 inch speaker, and put it in the attic. Hooked the speaker to an old 40 watt audio amp, driven by an audio osc. that I made up running at 15 cycles.

A couple of days, NO more coon problem!!

I wonder if it shook the windows of the house next door!

Wow!  I have been plagued with coons in the attic of my shop for years and nothing very clever came to mind to get rid of them.  Every night when I am in the shack, I hear them gamboling, fighting and digging all over up there.

You have set me off on my new project.

Do you have a schematic of your oscillator?  I have a 20W ss amp that should do the trick.  Meantime, I will run with my Heathkit audio generator.

For obvious reasons, we wish them well.  http://schmidling.com/rach.htm

You made my day.

Some nights we get them at the bird feeder going after the sunflower seed. They make an awful racket banging around on the deck.

We had some raccoons bugging us. Rumor has it that they are real clean and hate the smell of urine, so we soaked some old diapers in ammonia and plopped them in front of all the windows and doors. Problem solved.
