Title: HQ-170
Post by: WB4NXK on January 25, 2010, 10:55:43 AM
My HQ-170 receives well except I also receive some foreign broadcast on the 75 meter band. It is a harmonic, I receive it on 4 or 5 different place on the band. The SSB also is present but the harmonics are a pain. Has anyone have any ideas?

Butch,

There are some foreign broadcast stations on 75 and there used to be one pretty strong one near 3885.  Have you tried another equally sensitive receiver? Is it the same station showing up at every spot?

I have never noticed this on my HQ-170 or 180 receivers and I use them with a variety of resonant and random antennas.

I have run into problems with some of my Hallicrafters dual conversion receivers with the 1650 Khz. 1'st IF because of a strong broadcast station coming through the RF stages into the 1'sT IF-a trap took care of it.  But your HQ-160 is dual conversion on 80 and 160 with a 455 Khz. 1'st IF on those ranges and there should not be anything there to interfere.
