Owen,

I have never seen an ARR-2 but it appears to be a UHF receiver used for homing. It looks to be a superheterodyne and it has a BFO. To pad it down to 2 M, should not be a problem. It actually should work better down there - Hi. I can imagine that it has a high noise figure with THREE!!! RF amplifiers. It works with the DY-2 dynamotor just like a lot of ARC-5 equipment.

I have done up an SCR-522 and an R-19 for 2M AM. But that was a while ago.

Hi mike.

I have one  in my shack that has been modif***ed to a poor standard. Have manual and also a genuine 24V in DC/DC for the ARC5 series rx's.

Was looking what might  ??? have been done to it......

Thanks for your reply.

I have 6 complete SCR522 and a lot of ARC5 stuff. Have just rolled my own ARC5 modulator. Still to be fully tested tho.

Been a ham since 1965 origionaly from ZL land.

A Kiwi?

Sometimes those mods can be figured out and made right. I got hold of an ARB receiver with a scary looking AC power supply installed. It turned out to be a fine transformer and all I really did was replace the crispy line cord, one capacitor, some wire and improved the soldering and wired the front panel fuse holder. Plays great and no hum.

I did up an SCR-522 and added some standoffs to the 832 final socket and dropped it enough to squeeze in an 829B. 22 Watts out!

Hi again Mike.

Yep, a Kiwi tho I have been in Oz since 1985.

As I said i have the manual so i will just have to find time sort it out.

Got 6 or so SCR522's and once again need the time to sort them out.

I built a prototype 8/16/24MHz synthesiser some years ago to use with '522's. Must find time to a]find said prototype and b]documentit!!
