Title: Have you decorated your home for Christmas?
Post by: w8khk on December 11, 2009, 11:06:35 AM
“Good  news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations.

The bad news is that I had to take him down after two  days.

I had more people come screaming up to my house than  ever.

Great stories.  But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents

as they almost crashed when they drove by.

Second,  a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder

almost killed herself putting it against my house

and didn’t realize that it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy).

By the way, she was one of the many people who attempted to do that.

My yard couldn’t take it either.

I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.”

Rick, I can assure you this is pure fiction.  Thank you for your concern.  No ladders were harmed in the making of this photograph.  However, the LED-based icicle lights are authentic.

Now the dog wants to know if it's too late to be good.

Merry Christmas Paul.   I see you slipping that 27Mhz vertical up inside the faux 'tree,' um, hmmm.

..And from the look of the slip covers it looks like the dogs have the run of the place.  ;D

Rick,

And best to you and everyone at home coming into Christmas.

I was looking over my shoulder wondering if you remember a story in my past or something, regarding the old Class D activity.  Turns out a version of it was posted by me on here, Dec. 2005.

Well anyway,

It was Christmas, 1968 or so, and my Dad picked up a Shady O'Rack Americana 23-Plus, which had a tube final and the "half channel" also known as 22A.

This was to be my first "base station," after me and a friend of mine, Scott Adams, used to play commando in the woods with our handheld TRC-1A (also a Tandy product), a two channel CB walkie-talkie.

Had me a Super-Mag II, ground plane vertical on the roof of the house, and figured out the "tune" and "load" controls on the back of the radio were interesting.

Anyway, just about every year coming into Christmas I think about cool stuff we would get as kids, and that was one of the items.

Today, no, there are no covert 27MHz rods in the tree ...

But I still play commando with our Military Working Dog, and some girl you know.  The handheld in the vest pocket is a Motorola MT1000 on VHF.

Merry Christmas Paul.   I see you slipping that 27Mhz vertical up inside the faux 'tree,' um, hmmm.

..And from the look of the slip covers it looks like the dogs have the run of the place.  ;D

Nice stuff guys. Paul how far out in the woods are you?

So far this year on TV, I have been spared the sight of people who spend 100K on outdoor decorations that increase their light bill for a few weeks, in what it would cost them for a year of energy.

I'm not totally BA hum bug, secretly, don't tell anyone, I like it.

Some of these displays are amazing but nuts.

 Here's one on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szLmAPW39uE

At the end it shows the containers for all the lighting.  Nuts!
