Title: OK, now I'm off in another direction,,,,
Post by: K7NCR on November 04, 2009, 11:59:20 PM
Just for something to think about while I work on the Marauder, I've been pondering a FM add-on for the VHF-1 Seneca. I've looked at some info from the internet. None to helpful. Lots of legal and not-so-legal FM modulators for audio devices, etc. Maybe a variation of varactor control switched in the VFO? Maybe I'm in over my head, but I like to experiment and learn as I go.  ::) ::)
If it comes thru OK, see the scan of the VFO I attached.

I used to inject audio at the cathode of the VFO oscillator in my DX-100 to operate 10 meter FM. All I did was lift out the tube on top of the VFO, wrap a thin piece of wire around the cathode pin, and plug it back in. I fed that point with audio from an old Bogen PA amplifier using one of the line taps from the output transformer. I'm sure the impedance was all screwed up but it sounded great after a little help from friends in the area who listened and helped me to set the level correctly. I wrote a little article about it in the old AM Press Exchange but have no idea what issue it was. Seems like you could try something like that with the 6AU6 in the Seneca.

Thanks, Pete! I'll see if I can locate those issues, especialy HRM, 3/89.

These issues seem kinda hard to find,,
I, however was a bad boy and bought a 2 DVD set of HRM 2-68 to 6-90. Supposedly scanned at 300 DPI. Who should I send the royalty check to?  ;D

:o :o :o Really?  ;) ;) ;) Honestly, though, I usually don't buy written material off of e-bay, except original manuals, etc. We will see when I get them if the $16+ I paid was a flush down the drain.

Possilby, but my search only turned up torent based sites full of malware. I guess I don't mind paying for a copy if it will save some time wadding thru the CRAP!
