Title: teh joys of using funky tubes
Post by: N3DRB The Derb on October 12, 2009, 10:50:10 PM
gonna be putting these into the lower power modulator - good match for the S21 - was gonna go pedestrian with 809's or 811's but I love running funky tubes in my rigs. Gotta dig that box art. So Hytron HY 40's it is. no audiophool wants these things.  :D

Pair of these will do real well @ 750 volts or so. not too much, but enough. "Rig here is a Eimac 5-125B modulated by Hytron hy40's".

different.  :D

If me thinks correctly, they are Hytron's answer to the 809s. (with a 40w dissipation rating) When you come ova to get the Derbaphone, remind me to look, I may have a couple of smaller 7.5v fil transfomas..................

I got a s-series that has both 6.3 for the octals and 7.5 for the hytrons. I have to check the current rating, the hytrons want 2.25 amps. I would think that transformer would do that no problem. One of those thor units you gave me the other day is gonna be the plate xfmr.
