Last year I remember seeing one with a blue base and another with a blueish-green base. Don't remember if they had any lights. Maybe the seller just cobbles them together in his basement from flea market/yard sale acquisitions. Got to respect the entrepreneur aspect and creativeness of the seller.

And on CB frequencies the spacing is too short to even obtain any gain in the direction broadside to the plane between the antennas. What a sham that was and still is!

It's in an article called Amateur Radio and the Cosmos Part 1 - From Our Meager Beginnings, page 15. The receiver (Collins 75A4 w/bigwheel tuning) in this picture belong to Walt, W2CXY (sk), which was part of Walt's historic meteor-scatter and moonbounce station of the 50's.
