Title: Verizon FIOS Taxes? Post by: Tom WA3KLR on January 24, 2009, 12:18:52 PM I believe that the FIOS backbone has been put through my area now. I have been getting the big Verizon postcards for various deals for several months. Now they are calling me on the phone too. I'm trying to determine the true differential cost.
In December the FIOS TV+ Internet + phone was $100/mo. + taxes. Now January, FIOS TV+ Internet + phone is $109/mo. + taxes. In their phone call to me a week ago I asked about FIOS phone + Internet only. The quote is $80/mo. + taxes. The question is: Is anyone out there getting these services/bill and what are the taxes turning out to be? I'm in Pennsylvania, perhaps taxes vary by state? For my basic service for one number, the bill averaged seven pages. Two pages were their "Basic Service Taxes and Surcharges, "Local Toll Taxes and Surcharges", "Monthly Service Charges", and a host of other nickel and dime charges. I finally kicked them out and rolled all my cable, internet, phone service (2 lines) to Optimum. My bill is now one page, cheaper, and simple to understand.
