I am new to the group and have come across this Gates xmtr. at a rundown transmitter site. Antenna is long gone and the building is falling down. Happens that the old Gates is still there with bird nests, rodents and the like having their way with it. The plate xfrmr. is gone along with the tubes and filament xfmr. Is it worth the time and effort to save??? Here is the sad pics of it. You might find that it is something you would restore, it's really how much Time/Money/Work you want to put in to a project.

Haul it out of there, shake and bake the iron, hose it out , dry it off and you might be surprised at what you wind up with...I've got a Bcast tx on the air here that had been on fire...Go for it...Good luck...Steve

I have 2 Gates 250C1's that have been totally restored. If I were you I would definately take it and later you can decide if you want to put the time and energy in restoring it. Please send me an e mail at joseph.fell@unisys.com and I will send you some pictures of the two that are restored that I have.
