You must be talking about a get-together where 833A's, 250TH's, 450TH's, 304TL's, HF-300's, 810's, 8000's, 211's, 100TH's, 204-A's, 849's, 4-1000's, 4-400's and other tubes commonly used in AM rigs, are gathered up for target practice with 22 rifles.

I recall a few years ago that W8 No Balls and some of his cronies were trying to organise such an activity to keep the tubes from falling into the hands of AM'ers. They planned to broadcast the event live over the air.  But they  were apparently unable to round up any tube donations.   ;D

My hearts with you,Steve!

This year, for the first time, my Pal Tom WB8ZWY and I are gonna hold a tube shoot at my cabin on Nov. 30th to ring in the deer gun season which starts Dec.1st.

His Dad, AF8S, is a retired radio tech from Ma Bell and has a few boxes of tubes aquired over the years from 60s and 70s vintage VHF and UHF radios. 6146s, 829s and even a dozen dead 4CX250s.

Available for the WMD side are 2 12ga w/ slugs and turkey loads, a TC contender in .44 Mag, A TC Hawkins .50 cal with 240gr HTPs, a couple .22 longs and my .30-06 with 125gr Nosler Ballistic tips (for the ceramics)!

We'll share pictures as I'm sure you will.

Have fun, be safe and be thankful for the 2nd Amendment.

You can't do this in France, Baby!

If I lived closer I could throw in about a dozen dead HF-300's and a few dead 810's too.

Don, but save me the sockets first. I have a friend in Pennsylvania who`s trying to get into manufacturing tubes. So far, I`m saving him metal plate in telephone books, lots of shiny straight wire in paint cans, etc, but Veeco vacuum testers, Starret calipers for measuring the diameters of wires, etc, tube samples, and more, are all needed.

You mean the tube bases?

I'll look and see if I haven't already trashed them.

Used HF-300's at fleamarkets have proved to have a tremendously high dud rate, probably well over 80%, compared to about 35% with other tubes.

A Mountain for a backstop??? what are you shooting? must be some heavy artillery, of course that could just go OVER the mountain...

Ya beat me to it, Steve.

Like he said Mikey. The area my cabin is in wud meet your requirments.
EX: My treestand is 150 yards due south of the cabin. Walking downhill to get there covers 600 yards. Tube shooting down there could be done with RPGs at no risk!
But, I'm saving those for home security!

What a bunch of vengeful p---ks. It is amazing to me that some people think along these lines. Get a life!

Sounds like great fun. I hope it's all contained. You wouldn't want a child to step on that sharp polluted glass. Do you need a permit for that? Are some of those innards radioactive and/or in the case of ceramic types deadly?

Ah what the hell, the planet is doomed and everything is going to hell :'( :'(

Have fun boys and remember you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows and watch those parking meters ;D ;D ;D
