Title: My northern sky hook restored Post by: w1vtp on October 17, 2008, 01:15:54 PM Here are some pics of work being done at my QTH. Check out that BIG bucket rig! The last pic is of the weed tree that got in the way of my utility pole so I had the north end of my dipole tied to a fence. Pics one and two pics are to the south and to the north west. You can just make out the end insulator and the 40 / 80 m trap in the south pic. The northern view shows some potential 160 m sky hooks soon to be utilized.

That's actually part of the continuous rope loop that passes through the pulley at the utility pole. The insulator your are referring to is actually the north end insulator. If you look down further you will see a small dot on the ant -- that's the 40m trap. The center is actually off the pole which is fastened to my garage. Lousy pictures, I admit. I may retake them during a nice day so the detail will be better.. This antenna is the Unidella trap system which now covers 80 / 40 meters. I plan on adding the additional traps and ant extensions that will get me to 160 meters.My signal seems to have greatly improved so "that's a good thing" to quote Martha. Al you always were strapping..40 over 9 on the SX140 with a whopping 6ft ant hooked to the back..

I am assuming by the pics that you are a fellow utility pole advocate, when MaNature doesn't provide the needed supports. I am using my laptop and do not have a pic of my 70 foot pole supporting a tri-bander and the VEE. I hope you were able to get by without a burning feeling in your pocket. The only burning part was when the city took about 6' of a strip of land by imminent domain. Part of my objection to that "theft" was I was losing some sky hooks (trees) so the pole was supposed to sweeten the deal.
