Title: Weller Electronic irons acting up
Post by: K1ZJH on October 02, 2008, 07:44:16 PM
Both of my E2002 electronic irons have started acting up-- erratic temps,
very erratic displays, etc. I'm thinking of wholesaling the electrolytics, since
they are a tad high on the ESR meter, but figure I'd fish for other suggestions..

Pete ???

I don't know much about the E2002 but if it's like any of the other Weller temp controlled I-Rons, I'd suspect the iron itself rather than the electronics.  I've had a few models of the Weller soldering stations and it's always been the iron and not the electronics. I've always replaced the iron and have been on my way.

Recapped both bases, both seem to be okay. I'm sure one was funky.  The other problem is one of
the handles is funky, but the resistance readings look good?  At least I'm back to one good iron
and base combo :)
