Title: Art-13 Power Supply Progress
Post by: W7SOE on September 10, 2008, 06:16:28 PM
I have most of the stuff mounted.  The three toroid transformers are for the 28VDC, 400VDC, and the 1500VDC.  The other is a choke for the HV.  I have the HV bridges on CPU heatsinks, I don't know if I will need a fan yet.

Now to start wiring....

Very nice, Rich.  Does someone sell those PC boards, or did you make them yourself?

Very nice and quite the juxtaposition - a power supplpy modern toroidal transformers, solid state rectifiers and regulators with finned heat sinks powering a 1930's vintage tube rig with electro-mechanical auto-tuning.  COOL!

I added them to a pcb project I was already doing.

I have extras if anyone needs them.  (and will USE them)

After building up conventional power supplies for my ART-13's I am pretty impressed. I have literally tons of "old style" iron but am very interested in your toroids--where did they come from? Are these new production, surplus, or something you custom made? I want to put one of my ART-13's on my boat but am not too keen about my current bulky supplies. Tell us more!!

Skip,
The transformers are from Antek (www.antekinc.com).  I believe this is where AB2EZ is getting his for his modulation transformer experiments.  The are relatively inexpensive and substantially more compact.
