Title: Wolfhong Day
Post by: Mike/W8BAC on September 05, 2008, 05:43:22 PM
Today is the 70th anniversary of the 1938 ARRL convention in Chicago. The Wolfhong below was presented to Larry Buroker W9GPS/SK. I like to think Hyrum Percy Maxim himself handed this to him. History is fun.  ;D

There is something definitely amusing about the WH.  But Maxim couldn't have made that presentation, because he died suddenly in 1936.

Ah yes, the Wouff Hong, one of radio's richest traditions.
Thanks for sharing, its a wonderful memento to rich legacy of Hiram Percy Maxim, aka "The Old Man".

Thanks for the correction Bacon. I thought about doing a search to make sure he was alive than. I even did a search to make sure I was spelling his name right. I wasn't. Instead, I was thinking about how good my roast chicken was going to taste if I could just get away from the computer long enough to get it ready. Egg on my face and chicken in the oven. Which came first?

Do yourself a favor Mike and read the book "Hiram Percy Maxim" by Alice Schumacher. What a great read. He was the 1900's version of the 'Energizer Bunny'.
