Title: AN/URT-3 or AN/URT-4 info? Post by: KD4CPL on March 13, 2008, 11:26:14 AM Anyone have a manual or own one of these beasts?
1950's Navy 6' rack synthesized autotune AM/CW/FSK URT-3 has 4-400 final and 100 watts out - unless you have the "booster" supply/modulator to turn it into the 500 watt URT-4 Looks very similar to the SRT-14 and SRT-15 also made by Federal http://www.virhistory.com/navy/xmtrs/urt3-101.jpg (http://www.virhistory.com/navy/xmtrs/urt3-101.jpg) Any info greatly appreciated. One of these is coming to live at my house and I need to learn care and feeding..... cheers, Nick KD4CPL http://www.virhistory.com/navy/index.htm (http://www.virhistory.com/navy/index.htm) Title: Re: AN/URT-3 or AN/URT-4 info? Post by: The Slab Bacon on March 14, 2008, 07:12:49 AM IIRC, Dale (W4AUV) had one of them or something similar. I remember hearing him describe it on the air quite a few times. I dont think he ever got it working though.

I tracked that one down but it is not for sale, and I've found this URT-3 instead. I'm pretty sure the URT-3 is similar but hope to find some documentation, because a tube frequency synthesizer plus autotune is not your average xmtr design.....this is gonna be fun!
