Title: Tower Gurus, Help! Post by: Steve - WB3HUZ on January 30, 2008, 04:29:39 PM I'm trying to identify a tower. It's a Rohn but I have not found any other identification on it. It's triangular, each face is 30 inches, and the vertical supports are 1.5" OD pipe. It is made of 20 foot sections that bolt together with flanges that are 4" x 4" and 5/8" thick. There are four bolts on each flange and they are 5/8" OD. The diagonal support struts are made of 5/8" OD pipe and are spaced 22 inches. They bolt to flanges on the vertical pipes with 3/8" x 1-1/2" bolts. As configured, there are 4 sections for 80 total feet and it's free standing.
It looks similar to Rohn 80 series but all of the dimensions are smaller. Anyone have an idea? Title: Re: Tower Gurus, Help! Post by: Todd, KA1KAQ on January 30, 2008, 04:43:58 PM Sounds like 65G, except it uses 2" O.D. pipe.
You sure it's Rohn? From their catalog: The 65Gfeature 2" outside diameter high strength steel side rails and is built using a 26-1/4" equilateral triangle design. The Zig-ZagŪ cross bracing is formed from a continuous 5/8" solid steel rod electrically welded every 22" on the side rails. Title: Re: Tower Gurus, Help! I have all of the old ROHN catalog available on line so you guys can print out any data you need. The Radian stuff is there also.

I do have some 65G at the remote QTH ... Think that it is about 26-inches on a face, and this is all welded, four-bolt flanges in 10 and 20-foot sections ... have the DS on another computer ... by the time I get out there to measure it U will know all about the tower in question. The bolted braces seem novel ... wonder if that was some military knock-down thing or something ?? 73 Should be a nice tower, whatever it is. 73 Vic K6IC |
