It greatly softens the tape/decal adhesive, but leaves the harder paint untouched. I've used it on many radios without damaging the existing paint, including wrinkle, satin, hammertone finishes. But, of course, test in an inconspicuous area before performing the treatment. I've tried rubbing alcohol, but it never worked as good as this stuff is.
You'll find it in nearly any hardware store. This, of course, assumes you are not talking paint-on-paint - that would be a challenge to remove. In that case, you can either live with it, touch-up paint over it, of have the front panel completely repainted by one fo the guys around who specialize in johnson radio restoration. Easy to come buy and has a 2ndary use as a lube.. it works for me... klc

Made more for removing gum from price tags and such. A paper towel soaked in hot water left in place for a minute or so should do the trick, if they are water-transfers. |
