Title: Simple Speech Amplifier
Post by: W7SOE on October 11, 2007, 02:00:24 PM
Would a old simple tube PA amplifier be a suitable speech amplifier for a transmitter?   My "new" homebrew transmitter requires a 500 ohm input and some of these old tube amps match that impedance.

I was going to use my Johnson Viking II as an exciter and speech amp.  I am not sure that extracting the audio from the JVII is a good idea because it is a hassle in addition to the JVII audio being notoriously bad.

Thanks

Rich

Yes that should work fine. GL Chuck

V2 should do well as a driver at such a low power. It does not take a lot of work to make a ve sound good and even easier at low power.
