New things to do with your RF generator.

John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer.
I suspect his combustible salt water is as bogus as his quack RF cancer treatment.

If he really can make salt water burn, I'd almost bet that the energy output from the combustion is less than the rf energy required to produce the burning process.

Maybe his cancer treatment consisted of using the rf  generator to incinerate the cancerous growth.  If so, he might be interested to know that dermatologists have been using that technique for decades to remove skin growths.

I heard a story that Bob Piper, K1AJL (SK) found a cancerous growth on his leg.  At first he had it treated professionally, but it soon returned.  He had no means to pay for a second treatment, so he connected up a resonant circuit using a coil and capacitor and fed it with the output of a DX-100, and used the rf to burn off the growth.  The growth never returned after his DIY surgery.

BTW, anyone ever hear about the hospital that has a self-service operating room?

The name of the hospital is Suture Self.  ;D ;D

This is a repeat Terry.

But..... They'll need to prove that it can produce the horsepower to drive the RF generator AND the desired load. To this point it takes more energy to ignite the hydrogen being released then the burning H creates.

I thought it might be quackery also but they claim to NOT be able to produce more energy than it takes to support the combustion process and the Professor from Penn State that is taking up the cause is a well known expert in the field of Materials science. I did a little digging and he is using the 13.56MHz ISM band and about 200 Watts of power to weaken the atomic bonds of the salt water to allow the hydrogen atoms to separate. Seems to me that any ham with a 20 meter rig should be able to simulate his tests to see if it is true. The following link has links to other sites with mucho info.

If you google "Rife" and "microscope" you'll get back a bunch of rather intriquing information. The microscope is very interesting, dunno if it worked or not, but the aim it had is on the money. And, if you find a good picture of it, you can see that it was quite a bit of gear.

But Rife, iirc, wanted to use RF to blast cancer cells and viruses. He believed that they had resonant frequencies that were both unique and could be determined, and then the proper RF blasted at the person, destroying the vicious little critters.

What he probably didn't know at the time is that those freqs are likely in the Ghz or higher region, which at that time was not very achievable... if the idea works at all...
but an interesting read.
