Title: 812 Rig - Almost Ready!
Post by: KA8WTK on January 20, 2007, 01:02:04 PM
The pictures below show the modulator deck before and after cleanup. There was also a bit of rewiring done underneath for the grid bias supply. Love those 811A tubes lit up.

Here is the rig all stacked up. Still need to make it safer by covering the sides with copper screen. The back will be a sheet of plexiglass.

That rig looks really sharp. Very well put together, Bill.

Hey Bill, what did you do to get those chassis shiny like that.  Good looking rig.

Actually, I painted them. First thing was to remove every thing I could and remove all the rust I could get off. Wipe the chassis down with Windex to remove any dust left and mask whatever was left on the chassis and the through holes. The paint used was an "aluminum" paint bt Rust-oleum.
It goes on nice, leaves a nice finish and helps to hide the damage rust had done over the years while this rig was stored in a basement. The insides of the chassis were not rusted, so I just cleaned out the spiders and such. Then re-mount the top of chassis components, some of which were re-painted themselves, and wire it back up.

Thanks!

Bill - Most FBOM! Looking forward to hearing your new rig on the air.

BTW, what mod tranny are you using in it?

Best Regards,

Hi Joe,
The mod iron is a Stancor A-3898 300 watt transformer.
