I remember during Field Day in 1971, I was manning the phone position of the Larkfield ARC here on Long Island. I swear this actually happened: I worked W2SEX, and then the next immediate contact was with W2VD. I said to W2VD, "we just had sex, now we have VD". In 1946 the Niagara Frontier joined the W2 call area, and W8SEX became W2SEX. Bert became a silent key in 1968 and the club applied for and was granted the call, W2SEX under trustee, Milton Dexheimer, W2VCI. Since 1954, ARATS has actively used W2SEX for ARRL Field Day and Special event/contest activities as well as the club station at North Tonawanda Fire Headquarters.
