Title: Funny thing on ebay...
Post by: W8KHZ on December 06, 2006, 10:05:55 PM
Maybe this belongs in the ebay section but I thought it was more humor related than a buy-sell thing...  Check this auction out and read the discription for a laugh!

Wonder if I saw that shot in YL  News in QST in the late 50's/early 60's? Don't remember the OM's call, though

How does that compare to W1VD or W1ASS?

While we are on this subject.............

I remember during Field Day in 1971, I was manning the phone position of the Larkfield ARC here on Long Island.  I swear this actually happened: I worked W2SEX, and then the next immediate contact was with W2VD. I said to W2VD, "we just had sex, now we have VD". I don't recall his reaction, but the guys at our operating position were hysterical.

I guess this is what can happen when you have an unprotected QSO.

W2SEX used to belong to a radio club near my old hometown of Buffalo.
They used to have an event billed as "Sex On The Air".

History of W2SEX Call
W2SEX was originally issued as W8SEX in 1938 to Berton Salesfke, ARATS first secretary/treasurer. In 1946 the Niagara Frontier joined the W2 call area, and W8SEX became W2SEX. Bert became a silent key in 1968 and the club applied for and was granted the call, W2SEX under trustee, Milton Dexheimer, W2VCI.

Since 1954, ARATS has actively used W2SEX for ARRL Field Day and Special event/contest activities as well as the club station at North Tonawanda Fire Headquarters.

You know, that QSL card would have been a lot more funny if the call sign was K8CUM :D
