Title: A Real JN On AM
Post by: Steve - WB3HUZ on October 11, 2006, 06:59:20 PM
Worked a real JN on AM this afternoon on 3880 kHZ, Brennen, KI4PRK, Leesburg, VA. Only 12 years old, got ticket in May and just upgraded to General in July. Was initially attracted to amateur radio by hearing CW on a receiver of a friend of the family.

Too bad I didn't have the recording equipment set up.

If you hear Brennen on, lend some words of encouragement. Not every day we get a JN that young into amateur radio, let alone AM.

Yeah I hope he sticks around.

You guys were SO influential when I was about that age, and yes, "I listened to you ALL the time !"

It was (is?) a magic that is hard to find anywhere else.

Will you QSL him?  Maybe if he has a card on the wall it'll remind him to look around.

I worked this young lad about a month ago.  I wasn't sure how old he was since conditions were marginal the night we worked and barely got his name!.  I'm encouraged that a 12 year old, this day in age, somehow found his way not only into ham radio but AM!  I'll be looking for him in the future...

AHHHH Yes,
How I remember the Akai reel-reel with the crossfield heads. GREAT sounding machine for record and playback!
Beat the crap out of my Roberts ree-reel. The freq response curve looked like an old country road.
I hope to hear the LITTLE JN one day.
