One of the comments filed against RM-11305 by Mike W2ZE states that the petition's change would be contrary to the IARU bandplan for region 2.

Anyone know what this is specifically referring to?

I did at one time, think the FCC would "listen" to well structured comments,
but I now have my doubts.

I did file comments back in April of 2004 relavant to the RM-10867, which
had to do with "license restucturing" of which was a "pet peeve" of mine,
and was dissapointed with both the FCC`s response to the NPRM and
the number of comments filed,(very minimal IMO).

It would appear to me that that the FCC is just interested in "streamlining"
their workload, and are just going through the formality of "listening"
to comments.

This is just "my opinion", but that is the sense I get from previous proposals.

I wouldn't discount the power of a well-written comment by a lone amateur.  In my opinion it can have, at least, the weight of a petition from the ARRL.

In my opinion, this is a MUST READ for doing your homework on RM-11305 and RM-11306.

The proposal isn't contrary to the Region 2 bandplan as much as it "goes beyond" their intentions.
As I stated elsewhere, if the FCC does anything positive with RM-11305 I think it will be within those guidelines.

 

After reading the dissenting opinion all I can say is YIKES!

Reminds me of that whole We are the Borg thing.  Remember their motto - "You will be assimilated, resistance is futile"

Seems like the winlink proponents are trying to hijack the bands and the ARRL is willing to let that happen.  What a shame.
