Title: Hamvention Attendance
Post by: KA3EKH on May 29, 2025, 10:00:41 AM
Was just looking at the attendance for the Hamvention.

2025   36,814
2024   35,877
2023   33,861

Once again, if you were there you know. If you were not you missed out. Military themed Radio Nets on Friday on sixty meters, Saturday on 3885 AM and maybe the biggest Net of all on 51.0 FM
Maybe the nature of Hamvention is changing, flea market parts and old radios are no longer the attraction they once have been but they were packing them in over at the buildings with the new equipment and organizations. Parks on the Air pavilion that was packed every time I went by it.
If you are one of the old timers who likes to P&M about how things are not what they use to be maybe that's true, but I said it before that the days of selling tubes and coils is coming to an end. Think the flea market will always be part of the show but not the center of it.

My first trip to Hamvention this year. What a great experience.
As far as the flea market...there were plenty of old radios and people traffic..especially Saturday. Any rig pre-2005 I consider an old radio and there were tons of them. Parking on-site was SLOW on Friday (I used the remote lot), but Saturday I drove in at 8:05 with no delays.

IMHO, the Dayton Flea market was not as big as the Rochester NY fest at the Dome in its heyday, but about 2.5 to 3 times the size of Nearfest.
