Title: ART-13 mod xfmr
Post by: wa1mtz on March 08, 2025, 11:48:04 AM
Hello all, Can someone help out getting my ART back on? I'm in need of a mod xfmr. seems the secondary shorted, this happened in 2008, but I had a replacement. the meter readings are normal, except that there is B+ to the mod in cw, secondary reads at 32 ohms, ie: shorted. I also just got on the air my arc-5 with an MD-7 modulator, had to build a pwr supply and didn't have the control boxes or connectors- if anyone out there needs info on how to get it going, I'd gladly help.

I have the spec sheet from GE on that transformer, which is K-7101306, dated 3/1945.  It shows the following resistances on the windings:

Terminals    Max. Allowable Ohms

1-3              300  (Primary)
4-5              130  (Secondary)
6-7               45   (Secondary SG winding)

If that resistance reading is at the screen grid connections it might well be within spec. If the main secondary, it does appear shorted. Odd, because those transformers seem bulletproof.
