Title: The Great BC-348 Receiver Post by: n8fvj on January 23, 2025, 06:38:21 AM Yes, many articles on the BC-BC-348 receiver, but worthy of an overview. The BC-348 is a very good receiver for AM and no issue with SSB. It actually outperforms these vintage Ham receivers per W1VD receiver tests.

I believe the BC-348H, K, M, O, P, R have the antenna tune. All of these radios are the early more expensive build radios. They are called the GCT design. Being Mil-Spec design, the radios are rugged. I would replace the 120 volt power supply HV caps with 100uF to keep AC hum low. Use a HV dropping resistor if higher than 235 volts. 10x .01uF caps in cans should be replaced and 8x molded paper caps should also be replaced. Have at least one Ham I know and respect tell me that he now wants a BC-348 and never did have a desire for one until after seeing it. Its a Q in the video and they were always my favorite.
