Title: Johnson Viking Valiant Bandswitch photo
Post by: G4OJY on December 29, 2023, 06:09:34 AM
Hello

I am currently rebuilding a basket case Johnson Viking valiant where the previous owner decided to take the band switch to bits and remove the PA coils. Does anyone have a good hi res picture of the band switch showing which switch tap the various wires from the pa coils connect to.

I have seen all the online pics, but they are still a little unclear when zoomed in.

Thanks

Andy,

Here's some shots of the bandswitch from a junker Valiant that I have. Can't say whether the switch has been modified or not. Hope this helps.

Hope that is not a factory unit. Running buss wire thru holes like that is bad juju.

Apparently it is not. No rivets anywhere on the chassis.

Bus wire through chassis holes is an EF Johnson "innovation", part of their super duper TVI supression.

Hello Mark

thanks for the pics, that does help a lot. Mine is a home assembled outfit. Not the best construction I've seen.

Cheers
