Title: Jennings Vacuum Variable Capacitors
Post by: ag6cx on February 14, 2017, 11:58:03 AM
Hi All:

Trying to determine the difference between Jennings vacuum capacitors labeled USL (say USL-500) and UCSL (Say UCSL-500), as used in the old Collins T180 S tuner. Is there a categorical difference ?

I notice diameter is larger on USL at the mechanical expansion end.

It would be great to know the key to Jennings' model numbering system, if any if you Elmers out there can recall.

I have a Collins 180S tuner I am trying to place in service. Existing UCSL 500 is intact, but I thought I'd buy a spare on e-Bay, and picked up the USL 500, which is also 3000 volt rating, but diameter is about a half inch larger than the tuning harness. Haven't been able to find a source for a harness at all!

Look forward to Posted replies to save this art!!
