Title: Floor Model Broadcast Radio ID Help Please
Post by: AB3L on April 24, 2015, 07:23:09 AM
Happy spring to all.....though 32 deg in the WPa morning makes me wonder.

A friend from work is trying to identify a radio that his Grandmother had owned. He describes it as being a full size floor model, had a rectangular glass face with sliding needle. Below that was a large round rotary dial with finger holes, much larger than a phone dial. So he paints a picture of some method of applying a listing for favorite stations inside the finger holes so you just had to chose the hole and give it a turn.
He didn't remember if it had shortwave. Under the sound dial was a group of dial controls for volume, ...etc.
He also remembers the top having a rounded look to it, maybe even a double hump..?
His Grandmother came from Italy so he wasn't sure if it also made the trip with her. Seems like a lot to bring over but who knows. He also placed it in the 1930's possibly.

Thanks for the look.

Bob

Maybe one of the Silvertone tele-dial radios from the late 1930s?  Like these:

Wow, what a look. Thanks for the input. I'll pass the link to him, I bet this is what he is looking for.
